For Sale: Berger Self-Righting Catamaran
This is a very rare offer.
Pop-Up Mfg., Company’s add states “The world’s only self-righting high performance model sailboat. Difficult to capsize, however it self-rights itself instantly and goes right on sailing in the same direction”. This boat was designed by Herman Berger in Amityville (Long Island), NY and one of a number of boats in the company’s fleet of boat kits available.
The boat specifications are:
- Length = 60 in
- Width = 32 in
- Weight = 10 pounds
- Sail area = 1400 in2
This is a kit that is partially finished. The kit seems to be complete with spars, hull frame connectors, small parts, and connectors (mast step, steering arms), sail fabric, hulls, stands, keels, and rudders. It needs the electronics including the servos (drum winch variety), radio and receiver, switch, extensions, etc. The instructions are included in the kit.
We are aware of one completed boat. The owner finished the boat and would be glad to offer advice on the completion and upgrades that were made to his boat.
