Bill Bithell Cup

Vintage Marblehead Event.
Bill Bithell was active in model yachting at Storrow Lagoon as Boston MYC member 1932 until its demise in 1971. As champion skipper, he participated in the 1936 Olympics when model yachting was a demonstration sport. Bill became the first American to win the “YM Cup” in 1949 in the UK with A Class models. This was then emblematic of the World Champion of our sport. He was also a master model sailmaker and supplier of superb model fittings from 1934 until his passing in 2006. Thus, he remained an inspiration and mentor for others for 75 years.
