For Sale: International A Boat (Sold)
John Stoudt is reducing the size of his collection.
He is selling an International A Boat that sailed for many years in the Philadelphia area. The thinking is this boat may be Rod Carr’s Tracer ,which he won the national championship with in at Marsh Creek State Park, PA, in 1977. The boat came with a tattered set of sails with the #44. Checking the A Boat records we learned the previous owners were: Stoudt (2012 to present), Joe Krush (1986-2021), John Kirk (1984-1986), Russ Newlin (1981-1983), John Kirk (1978-1981), Rod Carr (1976-1978). In trying to confirm the origin with Rod there is a detail that we are unsure of in the bilge. If, in fact, this is Rod’s boat, it is built from Adrian Brewer’s (Australian) design Mach II.
The boat underwent a complete restoration including fairing in the hull, a new rig, new deck fittings, and a new rudder linkage and electronics. The sail servo is a ServoCity Shark 7 gear train providing over 2000 oz-in of torque. The paint scheme is very much like that on the restored Tracer.
She is a very competitive boat and has sailed in 2023 vintage nationals, where she placed second behind Tom Kiley’s Minerva (Bill Bithell’s 1940 build). The boat is complete with electronics, including a FlySky radio and receiver, and a stand. The sails are custom, made from Icarex, a high-performance material.
John is asking $1,500.00. He can be contacted at jstoudt309@gmail.com or 610-316-8695.
The boat is located in Chester Springs, PA 19425
