Tue ENGLISH POND YACHT Nearly every English lad was a “skipper” at the turn of the century. The model yachts they sailed were beloved possessions providing countless hours of adventure and competition. Garden ponds and small country lakes were the mightly oceans these boats braved. Safely dry-docked between sailings, on mantels or cabinet tops, they stirred the imaginations of young and old alike. The Prentiss Court Workshop is dedicated to recapturing for visual enjoyment the charm and salty style of these endearing sailing craft. The pond yachts that have inspired our models were sometimes made by sailorcraftsmen, sometimes by a handy father or uncle. They were fashioned after a variety of sailing cralt prominent during the Victorian era and into the early 1900s. / 2-TTANNIA A TREASURE FOR KEEPS Pridefully created by Carolina craftsmen to last for generations, each Prentiss Court yacht has a character of its own and is hand-marked with a serial number for use in recording ownership in the Prentiss Court Registry. As you can see from the sizecomparison chart, the Olympia Sloop is the smallest member of the fleet and the Concordia is the largest of our yachts. Color selections vary according to design. Options are identified in the text beside each photo. Our antique finish imparts a look of weathered performance. Hulls are hand-rubbed for a muted character and sails are lightly stained. Decks and spars are toned with a rich walnut stain. All models except the Olympia have functioning tiller-controlled rudders. These are boats with stories to tell. Cee SS ee TM~ ‘| YARMOUTH BRISTOL True to traditions in English yacht -| design dating back to the early 1800’s, our Bristol Cutter recalls “| sturdy vessels that plyed the channels of the British Islands. The gaff rig with large head sail hung from the bowsprit gave mighty power and speed. With a near vertical cut-water, the plumb-stem hull of our model has the round cockpit of a racer. The Marconi rig with familiar triangular sails allowed easy handling. Her fullrun deep keel gave directional stability for cruising or competitive runs. Copper or brass tiller. Cotton sails, rolled hems. High quality line. FINISH Hull colors are applied with opaque acrylic, enamel and walnut stain. Antique finish. Hand-rubbed for a weathered patina. Spars and deck are stained medium walnut. IVORY BURGUNDY EMERALD BLACK WALNUT DISPLAY STANDS Each boat is shipped with a display stand, as pictured. The Concordia and Olympia are supported by a brass T-stand. A simple wood cradle with low knob-top posts holds the Bristol, Solent and Yarmouth. Information on optional display stands and wall brackets is available upon request and included with each shipment.
