  • M.Y.R.A.A. 36-Inch One-Design Sharpie Contest. Edited by R. P. Dezendorf.
    • The Model Yacht Racing Association of America (M.Y.R.A.A.) announced a designing contest to establish an official 36-inch Sharpie class.
    • Eligibility & Prizes: Open to all (except judges and M.Y.R.A.A. executives). Cash prizes include $15.00 for First, $10.00 for Second, and $5.00 for Third.
    • Design Criteria: Judges prioritize seaworthiness, beauty, simplicity of construction, and balance over raw speed. Overhangs, displacement, and draft are left to the designer’s discretion, provided they meet the 36-Inch Class Rating Rules.

If no records are kept of any cars in previous races, all cars at a meet would have to run time trials in order to qualify for the final events. All this takes time, but it is the only fair way to do the job. Furthermore, these time trials should consist of more than one run per car. There should be at least two runs —and more if possible. The more runs there are, the better the averages are go- ‘l hope the ing to stack up.
