Model yachting is flourishing in San Francisco, centered around Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park. Despite being only six months old, the San Francisco Model Yacht Club has gained such popularity that the city allocated $22,000 for a dedicated new lake.

Model Yacht Racing Union of North America: Model yachtsmen established a formal Union to standardize designing, sailing, and racing.
Governance: Managed by a council of seven, the Union elected Com. E. Flynt as Chairman and George F. Pigott as Secretary.
Structure: Open to all recognized North American clubs, with powers primarily advisory until ratified by two-thirds of member clubs.

Outing Trophy Race: The first challenge for the Outing trophy took place between the yachts Dolphin (defender) and Wave (challenger).
AMYC Season Opener: Held on May 30 from the club's new salt-water station, the races were hampered by measurement delays and a faulty measuring tank.
Perpetual Challenge Trophy: A formal challenge from the Wave Crest Model Yacht Club was received for the AMYC Perpetual Challenge Trophy. The challenger, a 43-inch yacht named Ripple, prompted the AMYC to schedule trial races to select a worthy defender.
