This boat in another life was a skiff-sailed M class boat. It was found in North Carolina, of all places, and far inland. Skiff-sailed boats were sailed almost exclusively in the northeast harbors. It hitched a ride somehow.
Now for the fun part. A skiffed-sailed boat had a very deep keel, and they carried a lot of sail. The depth of this boat is 18”. Someone was trying to rig it as a cutter with a bow sprit. The winch arrangement is a lead screw arrangement. There are some fittings, hatch covers, and other items in the hull.
This project is not for the faint of heart. It would require some research and dedication. In the end it could sail successfully.
