king plank [R30]: The longitudinal member that runs down the center of the boat just under the deck.
shroud plate [R51]: A piece of wood placed along the sheer strake under the deck at those places that are below the shroud racks.
You will need to reinforce the deck in places where deck fittings (jib rack (R26), mast step (R41), backstay bracket (R02), and shroud racks (R52)) will be attached so that the hardware will not pull out of the thin deck material.
- The king plank gets epoxied to the deck beams.
- The shroud plates get epoxied to the sheer clamp.
These pieces are slightly larger than the fittings they reinforce and are placed below the deck where the fittings are to be installed.
