This is an actual Pop-Up Manufacturing self-righting catamaran. A very rare boat.
The boat was acquired by the owner partially completed and with all the kit components. The boat was completed with a lot of head scratching and pondering. A video and it’s story can be found here.
It has two drum winch servos installed, one to control the sails and one to control the self-right capability. Each system within the boat was a process in and of itself. Oh, did I mention that the instruction manual was lost somewhere along the way. While they each work a separate component, in the end they must work together. And they do.
All of the work is custom, including the rudders, rudder brackets, steering arms and linkage, electronics boards, spreaders, backstay bracket, boom vang, jib rack, etc. Both hulls have power in them and there are signal boosters to maintain signal from the receiver to the control servos.
