jib club fitting [R24]: A fitting on the forward end of the jib boom to which the forestay and control loop are attached.
This is a term based on AJ Fisher’s fitting known as the jib club swivel. We are using two pieces to accomplish what AJ Fisher did with his jib club swivel. This is primarily because his fitting was used on freesailing model yachts and mounted on the forward end of the jib boom. Our boats, which are controlled by R/C, must have the jib attachment point moved back 20–25% of the length of the jib foot. So, we need a jib club fitting (at the front of the jib boom) and a jib swivel [R28] moved back to this new attachment point.
The piece is a custom part inserted in the forward end of the boom, epoxied and bolted in place, to take the load provided by the forestay.
