boom vang (US) [R05]: A line or piston system on a sailboat used to exert downward force on the boom and thus control the shape of the sail. This is a kicking strap in the UK.
There are boom vangs available for one-design model yachts such as, CR914, DF65, DF95, IOM, Victoria, etc., but very few commercially available boom vangs for vintage models.
There is a very nice boom vang available in three sizes from Model Yacht Fittings.
There are assorted kicking straps available from SAILSetc that could be adapted to a vintage model yacht. These do look modern.
You may resort to making your own. The Walton vang, a very functional boom vang, is fairly easy to make with basic materials. And it can be attached easily to a vintage model.
